Dust collectors you need to vacuum clean right now
Dust is one of the biggest issues in your home, and you need to learn how to deal with. It is made of various components, notably skin cells, pollen, pet dander, pet hair and multiple fibres that clothes and other fabric items shed. It goes without saying that it is an annoying thing and so you need to extend your cleaning efforts to feature dusting.
Needless to say, your vacuum cleaner is your best friend in that regard. It is made to suck in dust after all, so it only makes sense to use it in the battle against dust. In this article, you will find a few spots of your home that harbour a great deal of dust, which you should address as soon as possible.
Your carpet and rugs
Undoubtedly, you know that carpets and rugs are the usual places for dust to harbour. That is why you need to stay on top of this task and vacuum your carpet often enough. Remember, the carpet is where all other dust particles end up during your cleaning session, simply because such is the way that gravity works. On top of that, carpets and rugs see a lot of human traffic and get dirt from the outside tracked on. Usually, it is fine to vacuum these areas once every two weeks, but for high-traffic areas, you need to invest time once every week.
The upholstery of your furniture
Upholstered furniture is another source of dust, which you must not ignore. A large part of the reason behind this lies with the fact that fabric materials shed a lot of fibres, which make a considerable portion of the dust. Add that to the fact upholstery is one of the most frequently used in your home and you see how it can become dusty. Thankfully, your vacuum cleaner can be used to remove the dust there with ease. Just use the appropriate attachment and deal with the task promptly.
The curtains around your home
Another area where dust likes to settle is the curtains. Not only does the fabric attract all of the airborne particles, but they shed tiny fibres that contribute to the problem even more. To remedy the situation, you should clean your curtains every now and then. The way to do it is simple. You can either utilise the appropriate steam cleaning machine or actually take your curtains and machine wash them if the material allows it. There is always the option to clean the curtains with your vacuum cleaner, though that would require some specialised attachments.
The mattress
Now, you are probably diligent and change your bed linen at least once a week. However, there is a small issue with your mattress. You can easily fit the cover in the washing machine, but the mattress itself is a different story. What you can do is vacuum it up or deep clean it. Vacuuming works wonders, especially when you add baking soda to the mix. Just sprinkle and let it sit for some time, before vacuuming it up. Add in a few drops of essential oil to the mix, and you will also refresh the area quite nicely.
Underneath furniture
Out of sight, out of mind. You rarely get to see the area located just beneath your furniture items (couch and chairs). But that doesn’t mean it is dust-free. On the contrary, you may find an unpleasant surprise in the form of dust bunnies when you finally peek under the furniture. Every few months it is a good idea to move furniture around and vacuum underneath it.
As you can see, there are quite a lot of areas in your home that you can vacuum now. That way, you will make your environment as dust-free as possible.
